Maitra-Favre-Turney Productions
Three friends who can't shut up about rap.
We dig into the psychology, history, and data behind why music hits the way it does.
What We Do
Every project starts the same way: why does this song feel like that — and what did the artist actually do to make it happen?
01
The beats, the mix, the tempo shifts — all of it matters. We break down the production choices and figure out why a song makes you feel anxious, hyped, or like you're about to cry in the car.
02
Bars are data. We look at wordplay, recurring themes, and how an artist's writing changes over time. The lyrics are always saying more than what's on the surface — we just actually write it down.
03
The music and the person making it are connected. We look at an artist's headspace, their history, and the decisions behind their work — not to play therapist, but to understand why it resonates the way it does.
What We've Done
My Beautiful Dark Type Indicator
What rapper thinks like you? Not who you listen to — who you actually are. 20 questions, five minutes, and you get an archetype back. We built it because personality quizzes are fun and rap is full of distinct minds worth comparing yourself to.

Hip-hop history, research, and takes — ran by a huge rap fan who wants to help you actually understand artists' lives. Reviews, context, and the stuff behind the music. Huge announcement coming soon on the rebrand.
"A good record isn't just something you hear. It's the artist's brain talking to yours — and most people feel it before they can explain why."

How We Do It
We're not writing album reviews. We listen to stuff on repeat, pull it apart, look at the history and data, and try to figure out why it hits — then we write it all down before we forget.

Rabbit Holes
Before we write anything, we just listen. A lot. The goal is to feel what the record is doing to you first — then you can actually start figuring out why.
Production, lyrics, and context — all at once. What choices did the artist make? What's the history behind it? What does the data actually show? We pull it all apart.
This is the psychology part. Why does this song make you feel that way? What was the artist going through? Who is this actually for? We connect the dots.
We write it up — not a hot take, not a dissertation, just a real breakdown of what the music is doing, why the artist made those choices, and why it matters.
About
MFT Productions is just three friends — Maitra, Favre, and Turney — who got way too into rap and decided to actually write it all down. We're interested in the deeper meaning behind the music: why artists make certain choices, what's going on psychologically, and what history and data can tell us about it.
Good music isn't random. Every beat switch, every bar, every album rollout is a decision. Our whole thing is figuring out what those decisions are and why they work — giving words to the stuff you already feel when a song hits.
This isn't a hot take blog and it's definitely not a dissertation. We just go deeper than most people bother to — because the music is worth it.
The Team
Production & How It Sounds
The one who won't stop talking about beat switches and mix decisions. Breaks down why a song makes you feel a certain way — tempo changes, bass choices, the whole production side of things.
Lyrics & Wordplay
Reads bars like other people read tweets. Tracks wordplay, themes, and how an artist's writing evolves — basically the person who makes you go "wait, he said WHAT?"
Psychology & Artist Context
Cares about why artists make the choices they make — their headspace, their history, what was going on when they made it. Connects the person to the music without pretending to be their therapist.
